There are so many reasons why ladies golf is so popular that it seems churlish to try and limit or count the reasons but it is not hard to give a great number of examples. The sport is enjoyed by both genders but the interest in the female element of the game has been developing nicely in recent years, leading to the current popularity.
A massive reason for the current popularity is the health benefits that come from playing golf. There is no need to look far today to realise that there is a great concern about the weight of many people. Western culture is battling an obesity problem and it can be all too easy to not make time for proper exercise. Playing a round of golf is a tremendous way to get a cardiovascular workout. Walking around the course provides a great deal of exercise to many people, although those that use a golf cart are missing out on this. Aside from this exercise element, the stretch and swing involved with each shot works different muscle groups around the body. Add to this the fact that golfers will be regularly bending down to pick their ball out of the hole or to adjust their lay means that they are stretching in other areas. A full body workout is obtained when playing a round of golf which helps to make it one of the most important forms of exercise for any female today.
Another reason for the rising popularity in female golf is that there are now a lot of specialist products for female players. Women’s golf clubs are now designed and tailored to the specifications of a woman’s body, making it much easier for a female to strike the ball cleanly. There is no barrier for a woman to use a men’s set of golf clubs but they may find it is not as easy to use. The innovative ways that the clubs and accessories have been created for the female market is sure to appeal to a great number of players, making them feel more at ease whilst playing.
Another really important issue to consider when thinking about the popularity of golf is that many business deals are done on the golf course. It used to be that this world was a male only preserve but that is certainly not the case in the modern era. Women are as effective in the modern business world as men so it makes sense that they will use the same methods and techniques that have underpinned business deals throughout the years. Whether it is the socialising aspect of playing on the course or the interaction that comes along when back at the 19th hole, women are also reaping the benefits of playing golf.
Another factor in the upsurge in ladies golf has been the increased television coverage that the sport now receives. With a multitude of sports channels offering around the clock coverage of sports, all manner of sports are being televised, with ladies golf featuring regularly. This has made it easier for females to watch the sport and this has encouraged them to take up the sport themselves.
